If you have chipped, cracked, misaligned or discoloured teeth, a simple hygiene visit may not be enough to give you the radiant smile you want. Sometimes a beautiful smile requires a little more help. The answer? We have cosmetic dentists at Nick Sheptooha Dental Practice who can use cosmetic dentistry to redefinine your smile and restore your confidence.
What is cosmetic dentistry and how can it help me?
Cosmetic dentistry is a branch of dental care that deals exclusively with the overall aesthetics of your smile. This includes proportions, balance and taking all elements of your dental health into account so we can be proactive about refreshing and rejuvenating the appearance of your smile. Recent studies have proven that the large majority of people will subconsciously use your smile to initially determine whether they trust, like you, and want to talk further. A refreshed smile may be able to help you nail that great first impression!
Cosmetic dentistry can be used to refresh, conceal or eliminate dental flaws such as:
– Gummy smiles
– Short teeth
Our high quality cosmetic dental treatments…

The ultimate blend of art and dental science, cosmetic dentistry can involve several dental treatments including:
Introducing the CEREC porcelain crown milling device to Nick Sheptooha Dental Practice
Like many industries, dentistry (especially cosmetic dentistry) has been the recipient of countless digital inspired innovations over the past few years or even decades. At Refresh Dental Spa/Nick Sheptooha Dental Practice, we are especially excited about our recent addition of Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic (CEREC) to our arsenal.
What is it?
The CEREC system is a device that utilises Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and 3D imaging technology to create a perfect scan of your teeth and mill a restoration in a single sitting. Previous methods often required multiple visits that spanned weeks, the use of uncomfortable, less-than-pleasant-tasting impression material and the resulting dental impressions were subject to varying degrees of human error.
How does it work?
Several components work together to allow CEREC to produce its amazing results:
– The camera and computer capture and store detailed photographs that we use to compile exact 3D images of the tooth or teeth.
– We are able to view the tooth at various orientations through the system’s CAD software allowing us to design a custom restoration based on the tooth’s exact dimensions.
– With Computer Assisted Milling, CEREC mills the restoration itself from a solid ceramic block with absolute precision in just minutes.
How can it help you?
CEREC can rapidly produce veneers, inlays, onlays and dental crowns to improve the look of (or give further protection to) decayed/damaged teeth. They can also be used as the finishing touch on other dental procedures or in some cases to enhance a smile with minor cosmetic imperfections.
Some key advantages of the system are:
– The accuracy of the automated milling which results in a perfect fit with no adjustments necessary.
– The process is much more comfortable for clients who gag easily while impressions are being made.
– The speed of the process eliminates the need for temporary restoration measures.
– The ceramic crowns, inlays and onlays produced by CEREC are easy to colour-match with your own teeth for a natural-looking smile.
– CEREC dental restorations have been found to have a high level of durability, lasting close to 30 years in some studies.

Tired of discoloured and stained teeth? Want that pearly white grin? Our high-quality tooth whitening treatment gives you brighter, whiter teeth in just one appointment! Whitening is considered the easiest, safest and most common cosmetic dental treatment and can help enhance the look of your smile for a fresh, rejuvenated appearance, so you feel good from the inside out.
Don’t DIY it! Why you should see a professional for teeth whitening.
If you are considering a DIY whitening treatment, you need to be aware of some of the dangers associated with using kits readily available from retailers. Firstly, you may have underlying problems you are not aware of that could be exacerbated by using these products. Also, even with instructions, unsupervised use of these agents often results in unintended damage to teeth and gums. Many users also report increased sensitivity and pain after using these products. Going to a dentist is the best way to guarantee the safest treatment and best results.
Our tooth whitening treatment is designed to provide dramatic results…
ZOOM! Tooth Whitening is the world’s number one light-activated Whitening System. At Nick Sheptooha Dental Practice, we are proud to offer this revolutionary treatment to our patients.
The ZOOM! Tooth Whitening treatment uses an advanced bleaching process that can lighten your teeth 8 to 10 shades in just one hour. Simply book an appointment, get into the dentist’s chair and let us do the hard work! Imagine – a beautiful, refreshed smile in one appointment!
How does ZOOM! Tooth Whitening work?
During your treatment, the ZOOM! Whitening Gel is carefully applied to your teeth. The Whitening Gel is then activated by the ZOOM! gentle light for 20 minutes. This process is then repeated twice to ensure optimal whitening results. The treatment does not hurt and is safe on your teeth. While our elite professionals whiten your smile, feel free to sit back, relax and enjoy your visit – listen to your favourite music or watch a movie on our high-tech video glasses.
Take Home Whitening
We know you won’t always have time to get your whitening treatment done in the chair. Our personalised at-home whitening kits are made specifically for you to help you achieve the smile you desire in the comfort of your home. We will take a mould of your teeth and creating a customised plate-like product so you can safely and efficiently apply the whitening agent. Your dentist will provide instructions on how to use to use the kit properly.
What is the process for take-home whitening?
After we have taken an impression of your teeth and made your customised tray, each night for two weeks you will need to place the required amount of bleaching agent on the tray and insert it into your mouth. This system is effective and will whiten your teeth gradually over the treatment time.
Veneers can rejuvenate and reinvigorate your appearance and may create a straighter, whiter, more perfect smile. Dr Nick Sheptooha has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and has restored many smiles with dental veneers.
This treatment is generally preferred over other more lengthy options as they:
– Provide an immediate solution
– Conceal all dental flaws
– Are resistant to staining
– Enhance the overall composition of your smile
What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are essentially thin porcelain shells (about as thin as a fingernail) that are expertly crafted, shaped and bonded over your prepared teeth to enhance their appearance. Porcelain is one of the most durable, strong and sturdy dental materials available, and actually mimics the strength of your tooth enamel! Porcelain is also stain resistant and can be colour-matched to the exact shade of your teeth for a beautiful, natural-looking new smile.
Porcelain veneers can combat a host of dental problems…
Are you unhappy with the look of your smile because of damage, discolouration or simply too much gum tissue? Our porcelain veneers are designed to conceal dental flaws such as:
– Permanently stained teeth that have been discoloured by coffee, tea, antibiotics, fluoride and cigarette smoking.
– Filling gaps (diastemas) between teeth and even eliminating black triangles caused by gum recession- veneers can be shaped to give you the smile you want.
– Correcting broken or crooked teeth – veneers will cover damaged or crooked teeth and transform them into a natural looking smile.
Porcelain veneers are typically placed on the front teeth (or other teeth in the smile zone), through a simple process of bonding. Often, only minimal preparation is needed and the results are immediately effective and long-lasting.
How do I take care of my new smile?
The great thing about porcelain veneers is they are generally easy to maintain. Just brush and floss as you would your natural teeth (brush twice daily, floss once daily), and avoid eating hard foods (such as chewing on ice) as this may damage your new smile. It is also important to continue visiting our practice every six months so we can help you maintain your veneers and thoroughly assess them to ensure there are no chips or breakages.
Dental implants are a long-term solution for lost teeth. They are solid, stable, functional and practical. Dental implants could very well change your life.
Why should I replace a missing tooth?
The loss of a tooth can severely affect your eating patterns, self-confidence and appearance. Missing teeth and gaps in the mouth can not only distract from an otherwise beautiful smile but also cause a severe decline in your oral health.
Missing teeth can impact the balance and health of your mouth as they:
– Can cause the remaining teeth to shift in an attempt to close the gap, resulting in crooked teeth
– Cause an incomplete cleaning surface, resulting in an increased risk of tooth decay or periodontal (gum) disease
– Cause the remaining teeth to become brittle, weak and more prone to falling out
– No longer stimulate the underlying jawbone, which results in bone loss
Dental implants offer a permanent solution to these problems as they actually mimic your natural teeth and provide a fully functional replacement for missing teeth.
What are Dental Implants?
Dental Implants are generally made from titanium and are essentially a screw that is surgically placed into the jawbone which acts as an ‘anchor’ that is then used to fasten ‘false teeth’ into position. As the mouth heals (approximately four to six months after surgery) the bone and implant begin to fuse together. Small posts or abutments are then attached to the implants, which are used to anchor crowns, bridges or more complex structures.
A Natural Finish
Dental Implants will enable you to recover the natural function of your teeth and recapture your beautiful smile. The dental implant root is extremely durable and with porcelain crowns, you have not only a beautiful smile, but one with natural-feeling function.
Dental Implants at Nick Sheptooha Dental Practice
After deciding together on implants as the treatment choice for you and having the desired result in mind, your dentist will undergo the careful and meticulous process that is necessary to achieve this.
Some of these treatments may be completed within just one appointment. No stress or downtime – just a new beautiful smile. Attracting comments will become the norm. Afterwards, you will only have one question: Why didn’t I do this earlier?
